Sura Detuwo (2026) is a Sri Lankan Sinhala comedy-fantasy film that marks the feature directorial debut of Lakmal Weerasiri. The movie is particularly notable for bringing the hugely popular YouTube comedy duo “Lakai Sikai” (Lakmal Weerasiri and Shan Arosha) to the silver screen for the first time. The heartwarming story centers on a young girl named Dhoni who is sent to live in a children’s home following the tragic passing of her beloved grandparents. Overwhelmed by grief and loneliness, she makes a desperate, heartfelt plea to their spirits for a guardian angel to watch over her. Blending signature comedy with a touching fantasy narrative, the film features a mix of fresh faces and seasoned industry veterans, including Sanath Gunathilake, Dilhani Ekanayake, Suhandi Wosadee, and television actor Darshan Thavarajah making his film debut.
